DESEX YOUR DOG

Desex your dog for FREE

We run a community dog desexing programme to help reduce the number of unwanted dogs and puppies in Northland. Thanks to funding from our generous funders and supporters, it is currently free*.

It is available for owners with a Community Services Card or genuine financial hardship.

Our vets are based in Whangārei, Waipu and Kauri and we cover dogs in the Whangārei and Kaipara districts (sorry, we don’t have any Kaipara-based vets at this stage, we’re working on it).

Conditions:

  • Our programme runs as funding allows. If we are short of funding, we may prioritise dogs or place your dog on a waiting list. We will get back to you as soon as we have more funding available.

  • Our available funding currently means we can offer this programme for free, however conditions may change as funds available change.

  • Our priorities are medium-large dogs including staffy, pitbull, sharpei, farm dog, etc. We also prioritise black and brindle dogs as sadly these are the hardest colours to rehome.

  • We do not cover dogs bought from breeders, pet stores or purchased elsewhere (except in extraordinary circumstances on a case-by-case basis).

  • You will require reliable transport, as your dog can’t walk home after surgery. If you need a hand with transport, please let us know and we will see if we can help.

  • To apply to have your dog desexed, please fill in this form.
We are a small volunteer team and do this work on top of our jobs, so please be patient with us as it may take a few days to get back to you.
